Hyundai India Domestic Sales Grew 12.8% In December 2011

Hyundai has manages to keep the sales charts upwards for the month of December 2011 when compared to the sales data of December 2010. In December 2011, Hyundai India sold 29,516 units against 26,168 units in the corresponding month last year in Indian domestic market which is a growth of 12.8%. However, besides the increase in domestic sales, there has been a drop in exports by 7.7% which brought the cumulative sales growth for December 2011 to 3.6%. Hyundai Eon has played a good role in expanding Hyundai India's portfolio in India and the new Hyundai Verna Fluidic has also been well received by India car buyers.

The segment-wise cumulative sales for December 2011 are: A2 segment 42,624units (Eon, Santro, i10, i20); A3 Segment 6,247 units (Accent and Verna); A5 segment 11 units (Sonata Transform); Santa Fe (SUV) 67 units.

For the full calendar year 2010 HMIL recorded domestic sales of 373,709 units, an increase of 4.8% over 356,717 units last year. Cumulative sales for the year were at 616,039 units against 603,819 units, an increase of 2%. Exports for the year were at 242,330 units against 247,102 units last year.
