SEOUL, South Korea — Korean automaker SsangYong has revamped its aging Actyon Sports utility truck and rechristened it Korando Sports.

The Korando Sports is based on the SUT-1 concept that SsangYong unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show and updated for the Frankfurt show.

SsangYong refers to the Korando Sports as a Leisure Utility Vehicle, or LUV. In essence, it’s a four-door pickup based on the Actyon sport-ute that’s been sold in South Korea and some export markets since 2005.

Offered in both rear- and all-wheel-drive variants, the Korando Sports is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel that makes 155 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra acquired a controlling interest in SsangYong in late 2010. SsangYong does not currently sell its vehicles in the U.S.

Inside Line says: Not much better-looking than its predecessor.
