*(NEW YORK) *What happened in the news while you were jet-setting to
a tropical island, gobbling spoonfuls of mashed potatoes, frantically
shopping for New Year's Eve sparkle, and nursing your 2012 hangover?
Tons and tons! Behold The Daily's top five holiday roundup.
*1.* *Rachel Zoe* is designing two new hush-hush categories for her
eponymous fashion line, but is staying mum on all the juicy
details. "I can't say what they are yet. I'd have to kill you if I
told you," said the stylist during her LG Mobile promo. The top-secret
additions will be unveiled next month. In other Zoe news, Page Six
[2]reported [3] that American Airlines lost her luggage full of
designer duds for her beach vaca with *Marc Jacobs* and fam in St.
Barths. Stay strong, RZ.
*2.* The Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent court battle will wage on
in 2012. [4] After what seemed like a YSL victory in the court case
between the two shoe behemoths over the red-sole trademark,
Louboutin's camp filed an appeal followed by a response by YSL. A
hearing date has been set for Jan 24.
*3.* Queen Elizabeth II's New Year Honors list [5] for 2011 was
released with a sprinkle of fashion figures in the mix.* **Barbara
Hulanicki *was awarded an OBE, or Officer of the Order of the
British Empire, for her services to the fashion industry which include
founding the sixties retail outpost Biba and designing collections for
Topshop, Habitat, and George at Asda. Meanwhile, footwear
designer* **Emma Hope* and Fashion East founder *Lulu Kennedy* were
named Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) and the British
Fashion Council's honorary treasurer, *Christopher Inman*, was named
an Officer of the Order of the British Empire. Congrats, loves!
*4.* Steven Madden Ltd. is widening its fast fashion footprint by
acquiring the Wild Pair trademark [6] from Bakers for up to $4
million. In May, the company scooped up mega-moneymaker Topline, which
boasts brands like Report, Report Signature and R2 by Report.
*5. *Get ready for your latest dose of reality drama in the form of a
new glossy called [7]Reality Weekly [8], dropping on newsstands this
Wednesday. The mag is being published by American Media Inc.,
