Iconic London retailer, Joan Burstein, is to be honoured
in Paris later this month. Both the Browns boutique founder and
legendary British designer, Paul Smith will receive the médaille de
la Ville de Paris, the vermilion City of Paris award, for their
contribution to menswear.
After setting up Browns in the 70's, Burstein made her name on the
fashion map, spotting potential in fashion designers, such as at the
time, Giorgio Armani, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, and including picking
up John Galliano's graduate collection.
The ceremony, held at the Paris City Hall on January 20, will host the
international buyers at the invitation of the Chambre Syndicale de la
Mode Masculine's members.
