MG's Qashqai Fighting Crossover in rendered form

MG SUV Render 300x225 MGs Qashqai Fighting Crossover in rendered formChinese automotive website, auto.163.com, have caught wind of MG's plan to produce a new crossover based on the AP12 platform and helpfully given it to us in rendered form

MG's current line up is limited, the company has the large 6, the mini 3 and its Crossover variant and will soon have the much anticipated MG5 compact hatch, but with the Chinese SUV market growing at a rapid rate the Sino-British brand would do well to introduce an SUV model. MG's Chief Designer, Tony Williams, reportedly told Auto 163 in early 2011 that MG are already working on an SUV, the new SUV won't be sharing any content with Roewe's W5 SUV, in fact the new SUV will be sitting on the AP12 platform that underpins the future MG5 and current Roewe 350 platform, the new SUV has been codenamed the AS21 and is being aimed squarely at Nissan's Qashqai. The same platform will also underpin a compact MPV that is expected to launch in 2013. Auto 163 are also reporting the new SUV will carry a 1.5T engine and also a dual clutch gearbox.
